Capitals play Lightning at AMALIE Arena on October 3, 2026.
The Lightning are 0-1-0 after one game, while the Capitals are playing their first game of the season. Tampa Bay finished last season 50-26-6 with 106 points. Washington finished 43-30-9 with 95 points.
Tampa Bay’s recent record covers one game. Nikita Kucherov scored once, and Brayden Point had one assist in that game. Washington has not played yet this season, so this will be its first test.
The teams met three times last season. Tampa Bay won two of those games, 5-3 and 3-2. Washington won the other meeting, 3-2. Tampa Bay also won one of two meetings in 2024-25, including a 3-1 result on March 1.
The edge goes to Tampa Bay. The Lightning have won four of the last five meetings, and Kucherov and Point already have points this season. A win would also bring Tampa Bay back to 1-1-0.
