Ask Puckey anything about the NHL.

The Oracle understands the team, player, game or season you are looking at, queries years of stored hockey data and answers with the numbers, not a guess.

How the Oracle answers

Most hockey chatbots write an answer that sounds right. This one looks it up first.

1

You ask in plain English

No filters, no dropdowns, no season pickers. "Is Makar better at home?" is a valid question.

2

It builds a real query

The Oracle works out the team, player, season, opponent and stat you meant, then runs that as a query over stored NHL games.

3

You get the numbers back

One clear sentence, plus the table behind it. If the data can't answer, it says so instead of making something up.

Ask about a game that hasn't been played

Pick a matchup and the Oracle keeps it in mind — recent form, head-to-head record, home and road splits for both teams. It won't hand you odds, it hands you what the two teams have actually done.

Start from your team

Every team page has its own stats, schedule and Oracle button — the chat opens already knowing which team you mean.

The Oracle is on every page

You don't have to come back here to ask. Look for the chat button next to the stat tables.

Common questions

Real games: scores, box scores, team records and player stats, stored by Puckey. The AI looks the numbers up in that data. It does not answer from memory.

All 32 NHL teams and their players, across more than 45 seasons back to 1979-80 — including clubs that moved, like the Quebec Nordiques and Hartford Whalers. Scores, records and head-to-head history go all the way back. Shot and save stats start around 1997-98, when the NHL began tracking them.

Scores refresh every 10 minutes while games are on, and full game details load overnight. Ask about last night's game in the morning and it will be there.

Almost anything stat-based: team records in specific situations (back-to-backs, home and away, trailing after the first period), player splits by opponent or timeframe, head-to-head history, power play efficiency, goalie save percentages, and more. If it's in the data, you can ask about it.

No. The Oracle is free, and you can ask without an account. A free account saves your answers and the teams and players you follow, so your feed and past chats are waiting when you come back. Anything you asked before signing up moves into it.

It can read a question the wrong way — for example picking the wrong season or the wrong player when two names are close. What it will not do is invent a number: if the games behind an answer are not in the data, it says so instead of guessing. Rephrasing the question usually fixes a misread, and every miss we see helps us fix it for every fan.

It is a stats tool, not a betting tool. Pick an upcoming game and it will tell you what the two teams have actually done — recent form, head-to-head history, home and road records — and you draw your own conclusion. It does not publish odds or a projected score.

Yes. Puckey has a free iOS app with the same chatbot. One free account covers both, so your teams and saved chats work on the web and on your phone.

One question is all it takes.

Free, no account needed, and the answer comes from the games themselves. Every question you ask helps make the Oracle better for the whole hockey community.
